What Keller Chimneys Actually Deal With
Chimneys in Keller and the towns around it do not fail like the old brick chimneys back East. Most problems here come from four things.
Prefab fireplaces in wood-framed chases
Most houses in Keller, Trophy Club, Southlake and Heritage were built from the 1990s on with a factory-built fireplace. The firebox and flue are metal, and the “chimney” you see is a wood frame covered in brick veneer, stone or siding. Those systems need a sweep like any other. They also need repair parts made for that model; a generic part can void the fireplace’s safety listing.
Hail and rusted chase covers
The flat metal chase cover on top of a prefab chimney holds water, rusts through and lets rain run into the framing. North Texas hail dents and punctures the covers and caps that have not rusted yet. We replace damaged covers with sloped, heavier-gauge stainless ones that shed water.
Clay soil and moving foundations
The expansive clay under much of north Tarrant County swells when it is wet and shrinks in a dry summer. Over the years that movement cracks masonry chimneys and fireboxes, opens gaps at the crown, and can pull a chimney away from the house. An inspection checks for all of it.
Chimney swifts and other animals
From spring to early fall, chimney swifts nest in open flues across the Metroplex. They are protected birds and cannot be removed while nesting. A properly fitted cap after the season keeps them, and squirrels and raccoons, out for good.
What we do in Keller
Complete Chimney & Fireplace Services
One crew, one standard, from the firebox to the cap. Every visit starts with a camera in the flue before anyone quotes a price.
Chimney Sweeping & Cleaning
Creosote and soot out with the opening sealed and a HEPA vacuum running. Before-and-after flue photos every visit.
Level 1 & 2 Inspections
Camera scan from firebox to crown with a written photo report. Level 2 is the one a home sale or an appliance change calls for.
Masonry Repair & Repointing
Eroded joints raked and repointed, spalled brick cut out and replaced, crowns rebuilt in proper mortar.
Rebuilds & Restoration
Partial rebuilds above the roofline to full teardown-and-rebuild, done to code and matched to the house.
Stainless Steel Liners
Correctly sized liners for the boiler, water heater or fireplace actually venting into the flue.
Caps, Crowns & Chase Covers
The weather side of chimney care: the cheapest leak you will ever prevent, and the first thing a North Texas hailstorm hits.
Waterproofing & Flashing
Breathable masonry sealer plus roof-to-chimney flashing repair to stop wind-driven rain at the source.
Fireplace & Dryer Vent
Dampers, smoke chambers, gas fireplace tune-ups and full dryer-duct cleaning by the same crew.
How it works
What a Keller Visit Looks Like
We arrive in the window we gave you
Before we start, drop cloths go down and the fireplace opening is sealed. We wear boot covers on every visit.
Camera first, then the sweep
We run a camera up each flue from the firebox to the top, and you see the footage. On a prefab chimney we also check the chase cover, the cap and the framing.
A written report, not a sales pitch
The report separates what is urgent from what can safely wait a season. It is in plain English, with prices you can check against the photos.

Questions we get asked
Keller Chimney FAQ
Do you have a local crew in Keller?
Yes. American Chimney Company’s Texas crew works out of 101 Bourland Rd Ste C, Keller, TX 76248, a few minutes from Old Town Keller and Keller Parkway. Calls from Keller, Trophy Club, Southlake, Roanoke and north Fort Worth go to a local crew. The Keller office number is (817) 753-1078.
My fireplace has a metal box and a wood-framed chimney. Does it still need sweeping?
Yes. Most homes built in Keller and Trophy Club since the 1990s have a factory-built (prefab) fireplace: a metal firebox and metal flue pipe inside a wood-framed chase with siding. They still collect creosote and need a sweep and an inspection. Repairs have to use parts listed for that fireplace, and a rusted or damaged chase cover on top is the most common leak we find.
We had hail. Should the chimney be checked?
Yes, after any real hailstorm. Hail dents and punctures chase covers and caps, cracks mortar crowns, and loosens flashing. The damage is hard to see from the yard and usually shows up later as a water stain by the fireplace or rot in the chase. We photograph everything we find, which helps if you are filing a roof or storm claim with your insurer.
There are birds in the chimney. Can you take them out?
If they are chimney swifts, not while they are nesting. Chimney swifts are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and they nest in North Texas chimneys from spring through early fall. Once they have left for the season we clean the flue and fit a proper cap so they cannot nest again. Squirrels, raccoons and other animals are a different matter, and we can deal with those any time.
My fireplace burns gas logs. Does it still need service?
Yes, about once a year. Gas fireplaces can block up with nests, debris and fallen liner pieces, and the damper on a gas log fireplace must be secured open so fumes cannot come back into the room. We check the venting, the damper, the gas log set and the glass or screen.
Which towns do you serve from the Keller location?
From Bourland Road we cover Keller, Watauga, North Richland Hills, Fort Worth, Haslet, Trophy Club, Roanoke, Westlake, Northlake, Southlake, Colleyville, Grapevine, Flower Mound. If your town is not listed, ask; the answer is usually yes.
