Frequently Asked Questions
My ceiling is stained near the chimney — is the roof bad?
Not necessarily. Chimney flashing is the most common culprit for stains near the fireplace, and it’s a much smaller fix than a roof.
Can’t I just paint the chimney to seal it?
Please don’t. Paint and film-forming sealers trap moisture inside the brick, which accelerates freeze-thaw damage. Breathable siloxane treatments are the correct tool.
When should waterproofing be applied?
After any needed masonry repairs, in dry weather. Spring through fall is ideal — and it pairs perfectly with an annual inspection.
